Florence Marryat

1837-1899

          BRITISH AUTHORESS, daughter of Capt. Marryat, acquainted with all the celebrated mediums of the 1870's and 1860's both in Britain and America, witness of Katie King's famous farewell from Florence Cook, recorded remarkable experiences in two books: There is No Death, 1891, and The Spirit World, 1894, both of them very popular, and claimed mediumistic gifts herself, among them the strange power of summoning the spirits of the living.
